Copenhagen-based engineering firm FLSmidth announced that it has obtained an order of at least $60 million USD to complete work for a planned cement plant in Sonson in the Colombian department of Antioquia.
The company says that the order comes from Madrid-based OHL Industrial for the engineering, procurement, and equipment for “a complete cement production line with a capacity of 3,150 tonnes per day.” The order, which is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2018, includes a “complete range of equipment from crushing to packing and loadout.”
The end client of the project is Empresa Colombiana de Cementos S.A.S, or EcoCementos, a company owned by Cementos Molins and Grupo Corona. According to the Medellín Herald, the companies have joined forces to build a $370 million USD cement plant in Sonson.
“The project underlines FLSmidth’s strength as a leading supplier of the most productive and energy-efficient equipment and technology — and our market leader position as a full scope plant provider,” says Per Mejnert Kristensen, group executive vice president of FLSmidth’s cement division.
