Amerisur Resources Drills New Platanillo Block Oil Well in Colombia
Oil and gas production company Amerisur ResourcesĀ PLC revealed this week that it has completed the drilling of itsĀ Platanillo 24 well in Colombia. The Wales-headquartered company says it spent around $2 million USD to drill this infill well to a total depth of nearlyĀ 8,500Ā feet in a little more than two weeks.
This makes the latest addition to Amerisur’s Platanillo block holdings, which it operates with a 100% working interest in the department of Putumayo. The company, which has an office in BogotĆ”, is currently still working to complete the well for commercial production.
“Platanillo 24 is a good result, the second of our planned infill wells,” saidĀ John Wardle, chief executive officer of Amerisur.Ā “The well was drilled to total depth in just over 15 days at a cost of under $2 million USD. I look forward to successfully initiating production.”
In addition to the Platanillo block, Amerisur has other holdings in Colombia known as Put-8, Put-9, Put-12, and Coati, as well as other longer-term exploration assets. It also owns the OBA oil transfer line into Ecuador and assets in Paraguay.
