Felix Antelo has been named as the new CEO of Viva Air, the parent company of discount airline VivaColombia.
Antelo, an Argentine with nearly two decades of aviation industry experience, will on May 15 formally take over as head of the Panama City-based group, which is majority controlled by Irelandia Aviation.
The incoming chief executive most recently has served for four years as CEO of LATAM Airlines Peru, a position he worked his way up to after years with the South American airline.
“I have the big challenge of continuing to consolidate Viva Air in Latin America,” said Antelo, noting Viva Air’s expansion from its beginnings as VivaColombia into a regional carrier with operations in Peru, as Viva Air Peru.
Antelo said that the airline group’s goal now is to transport more than 38 million passengers by 2020.
“To achieve this, we must continue to reinvent ourselves daily, offering more low fares and making the experience better for our customers,” said Antelo.
