The Alma Air CEO explains what comes next as the Colombian government approves the company moving forward with preparations to launch floatplane service.

Globally, only Starlux Airlines beat out the top two carriers in the Americas: Lynx Air and Arajet.

"We need the governments to work together to build the environment that will bring this capital, which is essential to developing aviation."

The new Airbus A320 planes are planned to help expand service to 20 locations in Colombia and 10 international destinations.

"Colombia, for us, is undoubtedly one of the most important places, and we are preparing to operate domestically in 2024," said JetSmart CEO Estuardo Ortiz.

"There are no miracles...When someone sells a plane ticket cheaper than a bus ticket, the client must know this company may not last."

With this agreement, the airlines are going head-to-head with Delta-backed Latam and United Airlines-backed Avianca.

"The Colombian air transport market is strong and stable. The data shows a resilient demand to attract airlines to supply the capacity left by Viva Air."

As a Director, I saw how hard Viva fought for its clients. As a passenger, I relished the experience. As a citizen, I am disgusted by what has now occurred.

With Avianca rejecting Aerocivil's conditions, Viva will almost certainly face liquidation.
