Viva Air Receives Post COVID-19 Biosecurity Approval From Colombian Government
Colombian low-cost airline Viva Air became the first airline to receive the “Check in Certificado” safety certificate developed by Colombia’s Ministry of Commerce Industry & Tourism and issued by Colombia’s Institute of Technical Standards and Certification, ICONTEC. The certification is a biosecurity approval demonstrating that the airline complies with standards and protocols developed by authorities and experts for travel during the Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic, and designed to minimize the risk of COVID-19 Contagion.
“We celebrate that Viva Air is the first airline to obtain the ‘Certified Check-in Certificate ’tourism biosafety seal, which aims to build trust among travelers and consumers in the face of the revival of the sector. We invite other airlines to follow their example. We will continue working hand in hand with the tourism and air transport sectors on the reactivation strategy,” said Vice Minister of Tourism, Julián Guerrero Orozco.
In addition to the ‘Check in Certificado’ designation, ICONTEC awarded Viva Air its ‘Certification of Biosafety Operations.’ During the COVID-19 Pandemic travel restrictions which has closed Colombian airspace to regular domestic and international passenger traffic, Viva has flown over 260 humanitarian and repatriation flights domestically and throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and the US.
