Grupo Familia Acquires Inpaecsa Paper Products Company for Reported $36 Million USD
Colombian household goods firm Grupo Familia acquired Industrial Papelera Ecuatoriana (Inpaecsa) of Ecuador earlier this month for $36 million USD, according to local paper La Republica.
The transaction, which the multilatina paper products and bathroom tissue maker said in a statement highlights its “interest to continue growing in Ecuador,” was conducted through the firm’s subsidiary Productos Familia Sancela del Ecuador S.A. and has received approval from regulators in Quito.
Grupo Familia sells products in around 20 nations in Latin America and operates plants in Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic.
“This is an operation of great importance,” said Grupo Familia in a statement. It added that, after having a presence within its Andean neighbor nation for some 20 years, “we are proud to continue with this history through a company connected to both paper and recycling.”
The company — which sells brands including Familia toilet paper, Pequeñín baby wipes, Nosotras feminine products, and Pomys facial products — has already begun the merger under an integration plan that kicked off following the early February acquisition of Inpaecsa, which was founded in 2012.
