Ágora Bogotá Convention Center To Open In 2017, Major Events Already Booked
Already under construction, the Ágora Bogotá International Convention Center is slated to open the first trimester of 2017, and has already booked significant events such as the World Neurosurgery Congress in 2021, and the One Young World youth event. The new convention center will connect to the existing Corferias complex, the primary exposition venue in Colombia’s capital.
Ágora is a public private partnership with the participation of Corferias, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, and the Colombian national government. “Bogotá was competitive for its hotel quality, air connectivity, and human resources. The maximum capacity for events was 1,500 people. But with the arrival of Ágora Bogotá, this opens a very big door to the industry, permitting 4,000 visitors just in our new international center, and up to 15,000, in conjunction with the rest of Corferias,” said director of marketing and sales Alexandra Torres.
One Young World
After the Olympic Games, One Young World brings together more youth from more countries together than any other. Annually, the event hosts over 1,500 youth between 18 & 30 years old, and from 194 countries. The London based group aims to energize young future leaders and inspire them to take initiative regarding civic participation.
World Neuroscience Congress
The World Neuroscience Congress brings together 6,000 of the world’s top doctors and brain scientists, along with 1,000 exhibitors. It has never before been held in Colombia, and is expected to generate 37 million dollars in local economic activity.
In addition to the aforementioned global events, 17 corporate and commercial events have already been booked through the coming years.
