With a $200 Million USD Investment in Colombia, Maersk Launches 14,000-Square-Meter Fulfillment Center Outside of Bogotá
Danish shipping giant Maersk today announced an investment of more than $200 million USD in Colombia and the opening of a new 14,000-square-meter fulfillment center on the outskirts of the capital in the town of Funza.

The Copenhagen-based, near-century-old corporation stated that it is looking to expand its logistics infrastructure, increase connectivity, and simplify supply chains with a Bogotá-adjacent site that offers customers warehouse management, cross-docking, and lithium battery electrical equipment, among other services.
Clients from the pharmaceutical and consumer products industries are already using the facilities, according to the company, which says that it was motivated to invest in Colombia as part of its region-wide push to add more warehouses, container yards, distribution centers, and cold storage along with other “value-added solutions” and “needs of the sector.”
The new facility outside of Bogotá follows the opening a 3,500-square-meter fulfillment center in Panama last August and comes as part of an overall strategy to grow the company’s presence in the region.
“These new facilities take Maersk’s total footprint in the area to more than 180,000 square meters spread across eights facilities in Central America, Andina, and the Caribbean,” said Antonio Dominguez, head of Latin America and the Caribbean at Maersk. “Maersk aims to better connect Latin America with the world by expanding its end-to-end warehouse and distribution footprint through rail, air, and regional consolidation/deconsolidation network with innovative solutions.”
