Viva Air Launches New Frequent Flyer Prepurchase Program
Medellín based low cost carrier Viva Air in association with travel technology company Caravelo, has launched a new product for its frequent passengers that allows them to pre-purchase packages of coupon vouchers redeemable for domestic or international flights, without having to commit to travel itineraries.
Passengers have up to one year from purchase to redeem their Viva Pass coupons.
The Viva Pass Coupon allows the traveler to pre-purchase either five or eight flight segments from the airline at a guaranteed price without having to choose the route or date in advance. Flights can be booked in as little as three days in advance without paying any rate difference or penalty. The product provides the traveler flexibility and up to 60% savings compared to a regular short-notice ticket purchase.
There are two types of Viva Pass Coupon Books.
- Viva Pass Coupon: allows the purchase of 5 coupons, saving up to 50%
- Viva Pass + Coupon: Allows the purchase of 8 coupons saving up to 60%
The Viva Pass coupons can be used on 21 domestic routes within Colombia, 10 domestic routes within Peru, or 3 international routes.
“At Viva we like to revolutionize the Latin American market and the airline industry more and more with innovative bets, therefore thanks to this alliance with Caravelo, we developed the Viva Pass Coupon thinking of regular travelers who travel several times per year and are seeking simplicity and adaptability,” says Lisa Mota Pinto (above photo), commercial vice president of the Viva Air Group. “At Viva we are developing actions to help regain passenger confidence in flying with the same or greater frequency as they did before.”
The airline seeks to reach travelers who fly more than 3 times a year for business, leisure or family visits in other cities. The launch of the Viva Pass Coupon seeks to gain 12,000 customers in the first year, and offers travelers the benefit of obtaining a fixed price on their flights, and the possibility of booking in as little as three days in advance without worrying about fluctuations in ticket prices.
“This new alliance is important for Viva to generate customer loyalty in a market that will be challenging this year. Viva is the second airline in the region to offer this coupon model and is positioning it as a key element in its recovery and acceleration plan for 2020 says Iñaki Uriz, CEO of Caravelo.
Either coupon option can be redeemed in as little as 3 days before the travel date without extra charges for fare differentials. Each coupon is redeemable for one segment, one passenger. The purchase of a Viva Pass coupon is personal and non-transferable and cannot be assigned to a third party. The product offers the benefit of savings and the possibility of guaranteeing a stable basic ticket fare, allowing the purchaser to decide when and where to travel at a later date.
