U.S. Embassy to Offer Extended Services in Various Colombian Cities in May and June
The U.S. embassy in Colombia will expand its services in late May and early June in a few key cities across the country to assist U.S. citizens manage their passports, Social Security, and other federal benefits.
Passport Services Day: Bucaramanga
The first event, called a “Passport Services Day,” will take place on May 31 and June 1 in Bucaramanga, where staff from the office of American Citizens Services will accept passport applications for renewals and replacements using DS-11 forms.

Regional Federal Benefits Unit: Bucaramanga, Pereira, Medellín, Bogotá
The U.S. Embassy will then station representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Unit in Bogotá, Medellín, Pereira, and Bucaramanga to offer services for beneficiaries or individuals with questions and applications for U.S. Social Security and other federal benefits.

Federal Benefits Details
- Those interested can schedule an appointment by sending an email to [email protected] and using the subject line“APPOINTMENT SSA – COLOMBIA.” The email should include your name, Social Security number, telephone number, and service required. You must bring original documents as well as a photocopy of each document required.
- U.S. citizens who wish to apply for Social Security benefits must bring originals and copies of their birth certificate, passport, and — if applying for auxiliary benefits or survivor’s benefits — marriage certificate, and death certificate, where applicable.
- U.S. citizens who wish to apply for a Social Security Number must bring a copy of their valid U.S. passport, “certificate of birth abroad or original birth certificate,” and a completed form SS-5FS.
