Dora Inés Rey of UPRA highlighted Colombia's global agricultural success, driven by coffee, cocoa, and beef exports.

Agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry, and fishing employed 3.4 million Colombians in February, up 4% from the previous year, with a 14.3% national share.

Colombian exports grew, led by coffee (+105.4%), flowers (+15.4%), and cocoa (+161.1%), solidifying the sector's role in exports.

Coffee led Colombia's agricultural growth with a 22.5% increase, followed by other crops (8.3%) and livestock (5.6%).

Colombia sees rises in meat (+4.7%), fish (+3.8%), and veggies (+1.6%) but declines in grains (-5.1%) and fruits (-1.1%).

Rural labor market recovers in Dec 2024 with stable 7% unemployment and employment rising to 4.9 million workers.

Yuca (cassava) corn and potatoes led the growth. Colombia cultivates over 60 varieties of potatoes.

"This increase in rural employment reflects the dynamism and resilience of our agricultural sector," said Claudia Cortés, director of the UPRA.
