KFC Fined By Colombian Government For Poor Quality
Colombia’s commerce regulatory watchdog, the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) announced a $160 million peso fine against KFC Colombia, Inversiones INT Colombia S.A.S, the Colombian operations of the KFC restaurant chain, also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, for poor quality, based on 2,117 complaints received between January and October of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to SIC, the fine is punishment for terminating orders on its app without delivering them, portions missing food, for having a web page that did not meet minimum requirements for contacting the firm with petitions or complaints, for not disclosing the company’s NIT (corporation registration number), for orders never delivered, delivered, late, or in poor condition.
KFC may appeal the decision. Finance Colombia has reached out to KFC but as of publication, the company has not responded. Should we receive a response, we will update this article.
