Today, Medellín Mayor Daniel Quintero (above left) announced the appointment of Eleonora Betancur González (above, right) as the new executive director of ACI Medellín, the city’s investment promotion agency.

In the past, Betancur has served as head of the Andean Zone for the URBAL III project of the European Commission, adviser in the construction of the guide for public policy on the Internationalization of the Local Governments for the Barcelona Provincial Council; director of International Relations and general coordinator of the Americas Meeting on Climate Change, both positions for the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá.

“I feel very honored and pleased to be at the head of an institution that is the international face of the city. I am committed to your work of making Medellín a caring and attractive city so that cooperation and investment can take root in it. I am part of a common dream, to make our city an axis of development and innovation that will lead us to lead the fourth revolution in the region and internationally, always aiming to close inequality gaps by generating greater employment and development opportunities. I am happy to put my knowledge, dedication and experience at the service of the city and the region,” said Betancur in a statement.

Betancur is a sociologist from the University of Salamanca, a specialist in Good Governance and Territorial Public Management from the Pontificia Javeriana University and has a master’s degree in International Relations and Development Cooperation from the Barcelona Center for International Relations – CIDOB in Collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
