Bogotá is Colombia’s vibrant capital of 9 million people. Seat of the country’s government, home to many of Colombia’s most important businesses, and the setting for eclectic restaurants, nightlife, and cultural attractions, the capital city still suffers from some of the world’s worst traffic, and taxi drivers infamous for dishonesty.

Smart travelers with Bogotá as either a destination, or as a layover for flights in and out of El Dorado International Airport, develop tactics to avoid pitfalls and make the best of their stay. Hotel Habitel is the closest full-service business hotel to El Dorado Airport, and provides courtesy transportation for arriving and departing guests 24 hours a day. Many travelers have found themselves stranded, stuck in Bogotá’s traffic in the city’s distant business districts. Selecting Habitel eliminates that worry.

Where to stay: Bogotá

For travelers with business or destinations within Bogotá, the hotel offers a fleet of dedicated transportation that will drop the guest off at his or her destination, and upon request, return to pick the guest up at a preassigned time. The charges for these services can be settled at checkout. With its location on El Dorado Boulevard, Habitel is also very close and convenient to the Salitre area, the Corferias and Agorá convention centers, the US Embassy, the inter city bus terminal “terminal de transporte” and just minutes from the giant shopping center Gran Estación with hundreds of restaurants, bars, retail and fashion outlets, and cinema options.

Rooms are ample, impeccably clean and with comfortable bedding. WiFi is strong, hot water is on tap, and there is a mini-refrigerator stocked with beer and soft drinks. Rooms also have a coffee maker, but more importantly, there is a full complimentary breakfast buffet for guests, with plentiful hot selections. Every room has a safe with guest-programmable combinations.

Habitel offers a business center where travelers may print out travel documents or other important documents. There are multiple on-site convenience stores and gift shops that offer everything from snacks to souvenirs, jewelry and electronics.

Habitel features 3 full-service restaurants and a luxury spa. The hotel has even developed special getaway packages for those with business such as renewing visas at the German or nearby US embassies. A “trailing spouse” could stay occupied and interested during business trips either with one of these packages, or by visiting nearby retail hyper-shopping center Gran Estación and its cinema featuring the latest movies in Spanish and English (selections vary)

Habitel is as much a meeting facility as a hotel and offers a selection of meeting rooms with large spaces that can hold several hundred attendees, down to intimate meeting rooms for small groups of 10-20 people. Unlike most hotels in Bogotá, or other global cities generally, Habitel offers ample on-site parking for local meeting guests. The entire facility has secure entrances to the hotel grounds manned 24 hours a day.

Staff is friendly, attentive, professional and multi-lingual. For hotel availability and rates, visitors should click here.
