Avianca Expands Codeshare Agreement with Japanese Carrier ANA for Flights Connecting Through Mexico City
Avianca and Tokyo-based airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) have expanded their codeshare agreement to include flights between Japan and the Latin American capitals of Bogotá and San Salvador.
These flights connect Colombia and El Salvador to Japan via a stopover in Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport, and passengers on these routes will be able to earn frequent flyer miles through either Avianca’s LifeMiles program or the ANA Mileage Club. Both airlines are members of the Star Alliance.
This alignment builds upon the pre-existing codeshare arrangement between the two carriers that includes flights routed through the United States to Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras as well as a flight from London to Colombia.

The codeshare expansion officially took effect for both flights beginning on February 12.
Hideshi Oshimo, vice president and general manager of ANA in Mexico City, said that the agreement expansion “will bring Bogotá and San Salvador closer to Tokyo and Asia than ever before.”
