Former Allianz Seguros CEO Ignacio Borja to Join Chubb as Head of Spain, Portugal
Ignacio Borja, who served as president and chief executive officer of Allianz Seguros in Colombia for eight years, has been appointed country president of Spain and Portugal for Chubb.
As Iberia head based in Madrid, Borja will manage Chubb’s property and casualty, accident and health, and consumer lines in the two countries. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Borja, who has 25 years of experience in the insurance industry at Allianz Seguros and ACE Latin America, is replacing Veronique Brionne, who has moved on to be vice president of accident health in continental Europe for the insurer. He will report to Adam Clifford, the firm’s new division president of continental Europe.
“Ignacio brings a great wealth of all-round experience to this key role and is ideally placed to develop further our plans in Spain and Portugal,” said Andrew Kendrick, regional president of Europe for Chubb. “These are among the most important markets for Chubb in Continental Europe and I look forward to working with Ignacio as he drives forward our strategy for targeted growth.”
David Colmenares Spence has become the new president of Allianz Seguros, which has 50 locations in the the country and has been operating in Colombia for more than a century, long operating as Colseguros before being acquired by the German insurance giant in 1999.
The Bogotá native, who has a law degree from Sergio Arboleda University, took over last year in September, returning to Colombia after nearly two decades of holding various insurance sector roles throughout the Americas and the Asia-Pacific.
