A post by President Gustavo Petro on X describing Bolivia as experiencing a “popular uprising” escalated diplomatic tensions between the two countries, leading both governments to expel each other’s diplomatic representatives.

The ceasefire, set to run from May 30 to June 2, 2026, includes a halt to offensive military actions by the guerrilla group against voters and Colombian security forces during the election period.
