Work Begins on Two Roadways in Second Wave of Colombia’s 4G Highway Overhaul
Construction has begun on the two roadways — Puerta del Hierro-Palmar de Varela and Carreto-Cruz del Viso — that are a part of the second wave of Colombia’s massive 4G highway overhaul program.
According to the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), financing of 238 billion pesos, or around $83 million USD, was accredited this week by the firm overseeing the project, Concesionaria Vial Montes de María S.A.S., which is controlled by SACYR Concesiones Colombia S.A.S. (with a 98.89% stake) and SACYR ISL Concessions (0.11%). TG Pactual was also involved in the certification process.
“With the start of these works the connection between the departments of Sucre, Bolívar, and Atlántico is strengthened, and new opportunities are opened for the region,” said Dimitri Zaninovich, president of ANI.
This road project will span 196 kilometers with a total investment of 496.7 billion pesos. According to officials, it will create a peak of 1,466 jobs.
