The new Airbus A320 planes are planned to help expand service to 20 locations in Colombia and 10 international destinations.

JetSmart says that it continues progressing towards certification to fly domestic routes in Colombia.

"Colombia, for us, is undoubtedly one of the most important places, and we are preparing to operate domestically in 2024," said JetSmart CEO Estuardo Ortiz.

"There are no miracles...When someone sells a plane ticket cheaper than a bus ticket, the client must know this company may not last."

With this agreement, the airlines are going head-to-head with Delta-backed Latam and United Airlines-backed Avianca.

Aerocivil has hinted at some flexibility on slots, but Avianca must announce Viva's fate this week.

Efromovich taking control of Ultra would put him in the position of competing against his old airline, Avianca.

Avianca says it is willing to resurrect Viva, but wants better terms than the government has offered.
