Sophia was the star of Andicom 2018, taking the stage to discuss artificial intelligence's impact on business and society.

The center was founded by the Medellín Chamber of Commerce, CINTEL, and the CREAME Business Incubator.

Sophia the Robot made her second appearance in as many months in Colombia, this time making her Cartagena debut during Andicom 2018.

"Currently, the IT industry in Colombia is living great times. Companies have evolved," says David Luna, ICT Minister of Colombia.

With startup financing often scarce, the goal is to offer "credit that better fits the particular focus of these companies," said Bancóldex President Luis Fernando.

iShop's Barranquilla store will be its largest in Colombia, which is now home to 20 of the company's 49 stores in Latin America.

"I meet with customers every week and it’s amazing. They don’t want to spend time or money — until something happens," said Jorge Hurtado of Absolute Software.

By 2021, Ruta N hopes that the companies that signed on will be investing at least 3% of their sales back into activities in science, technology, and innovation.

"This service business is going to be the new starting point that will make Medellín a more modern, more digital, less polluted city," says Sergio Escobar of ACI Medellín.
