Trump has railed against the spike in coca cultivation in Colombia, focusing on drug trafficking and the Venezuela crisis while largely ignoring the country's peace process.
This is now the 14th project to receive funding within the 4G program and the first to close financing since President Iván Duque took office in August.
At the U.N., Duque reiterated his commitment to crack down on illicit coca production, strengthen the country’s peace process, and find a solution to the Venezuelan crisis.
“This year marked 70 years since the founding of the OAS in Bogotá. For our government it will be an honor," said Colombian diplomat Alejandro Ordoñez.
The global organization’s Security Council reaffirmed its “full commitment” to the peace process in Colombia for an additional year through September 15, 2019.
