Peace negotiations between Colombia’s government and the ELN have reached their most precarious moment since they began last year.

The new generation of Colombian drug lords, dubbed "The Invisibles," realize that their best protection is not a private army — but anonymity.

“They say they want peace, but they contradict that fact,” stated President Santos, adding "it will be very difficult to resume the dialogues.”

While the ceasefire is temporary, through January 9, President Santos hopes it can be renewed and become "the first step to achieve peace" with the ELN.
