Output at this historic site peaked at 60,000 barrels per day in 1939 but that number fell to a mere 5,000 by 2003.

Ecopetrol has struck oil in the Gulf of Mexico. It holds a 20% stake in the now-proven Warrior well site.

This the fourth auction in what Ecopetrol is calling the second stage of its divestment plan of its ISA holdings.

The public offering will take place before the start of common stock trading in the Colombian Stock Exchange on December 6.

"The group has overcome the period of low oil prices and has returned to the path of growth in production," said CEO Juan Carlos Echeverry.

Interestingly, this loan — for 990 billion Colombian pesos — wasn't due until February 2024.

Pacific Exploration is selling its 35% stake in the Karoon Blocks in Brazil to Karoon Gas Australia Ltd. for at least $15.5 million.

"Ecopetrol expresses its strong opposition to the protests that have been introduced to El Doncello, Caquetá," said the oil giant.

The public share offering will be held on this week on September 14 prior to the start of common stock trading in the Colombian stock exchange.

The Warrior well is located within an area called Green Canyon that is operated by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Ecopetrol America controls nearly 20% of that block.
