"The outstanding performance of Colombia reflects our commitment to preserve natural wealth and consolidates our position as a world leader in birdwatching."
Colombia took first place in the Global Big Day birdwatching event organized by Cornell University. Of 1,440 species observed, 600 species were seen in Antioquia, 548 in Valle del Cauca, 532 in Meta, and 505 each in Caldas & Cundinamarca departments.
Latin America still lags other regions, but "a few economies — such as Chile, Colombia, and Mexico — stood out among their peers,” says the Global Innovation Index.
