John Maya Salazar Takes Over as General Manager of EPM in Medellín
In a move first announced November 15, John Maya Salazar has officially taken over as the new general manager of Medellín public utility Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), replacing Jorge Andrés Carrillo Cardoso, with a planned four-year tenure that will continue through 2027.

This marks a return to EPM for Maya Salazar, who has nearly four decades of experience including 33 years in the public sector, per the company. Previously, he held various positions at EPM, including executive vice president of projects, engineering, and business management.
He has also served as a manager at Ingenierías Aliadas.
“It is an honor and a great responsibility for me to return to EPM as general manager,” said Maya Salazar. “We are going to work as a team to continue providing public services with quality, continuity, coverage, and availability — and contribute to the quality of life of the community and the development of the territories where we have a presence.”
He officially took over the leadership role on January 2.
