Hernán Rincón Named New President of Avianca
German Efromovich, President of the Board of Directors for Avianca Holdings S.A. and the Board of Directors for Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A. Avianca, has introduced Hernan Rincón Lema as the new Executive President of the holding company that groups several airlines and air services companies in Latin America and the world under the Avianca brand.
Efromovich also used this opportunity to thank interim executive Alvaro Jaramillo Buitrago for his commitment and direction provided to Avianca during this transitional stage, marked by severe market changes.

For 13 years, Hernan Rincon was involved with Microsoft in the position of President for Latin America and the Caribbean.
During his professional career, he was also President and CEO of Ferag Americas, a private Swiss company that develops, sells, installs and offers state-of-the-art technology solutions for the print media industry. He also worked for 11 years at Unisys, a provider of information technology solutions and services.
Rincón Lema studied Mathematics and Computer Science at New York State University. He has a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, as well as a master’s degree from the Kennedy School of Government and an MBA in Public Administration from Harvard, where he received the Edward S. Mason scholarship and participated in the U.S. Government’s Hubert H. Humphrey program.
