According to company reports, government owned Ecopetrol broke a single day production record in it’s Chichimene, Meta oil field, pumping 86,389 barrels of crude oil on January 2nd. A year ago, the field was producing 48,446 barrels per day, so the mature field is now producing 78% more than just a year ago. The field is now the third most important currently producing in Colombia, having been in production for the past 15 years.
Says manager Orlando Mauricio Sánchez Bahamón: “With the team, we set goals and designed the strategies to reach them. One of those consisted of adopting a well. Each one of the members of management took responsibility for following that well to guarantee it met production by the required dates.”
