Ecopetrol Appoints Jaime Caballero Uribe as Chief Financial Officer
Colombian state-controlled oil company Ecopetrol S.A. (BVC: ECOPETROL; NYSE: EC) appointed Jaime Caballero Uribe as chief financial officer earlier this month.
Within this role, Caballero will be the compliance agent for financial reporting to the Colombian Finance Superintendency as well as international markets.

Caballero has held the position of chief financial officer of the downstream segment for more than a year, taking over the role in July 2017, and represented Ecopetrol on numerous boards of directors, including those of Propilco and Gases del Caribe.
He previously worked for 17 years at BP plc (NYSE: BP | LSE: BP | FWB: BPE) in roles across the world, with stretches in Colombia, North America, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. He gained further experience in Colombia as the London-based company’s chief financial officer for the Brazil region, which included Colombia, Venezuela, and Uruguay in addition to South America’s largest country.
Jaime Caballero earned a law degree from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and an MBA in energy business from the Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. He has also studied in various programs in the United States at both Duke University and Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
