Baker & McKenzie Feted As Top Tax Lawyers In Colombia
Last week in New York City during the International Tax Review award event for The Americas honoring top tax lawyers, auditors and accountants, the international law firm Baker & McKenzie won several awards categories including Tax Firm Of The Year for Colombia, Tax Firm Of The Year for Latin America, and Tax Litigation Firm Of The Year for The United States and Canada.
“These awards reflect the recognition of Baker & McKenzie’s capabilities in Colombia, regionally, and globally,” said partner Jaime Girón. “We believe that our tireless dedication to service and the synergy that we have achieved between the attorneys, accountants and economists that make up our tax practice permit us to go further than what is traditionally expected in a law firm.”
The awards given out by International Tax Review recognize the law firms that lead in taxation and transfer pricing in over 21 jurisdictions throughout Latin America, the US, and Canada.
“To be the best tax firm in Colombia reflects the importance that Baker and McKenzie gives to this [Colombian] market, where we compete with very strong local and international firms. We have been able to consolidate a very strong team from the legal and technical perspective, which permits us to differentiate ourselves, and attend to very difficult cases with excellent results,” said partner Ciro Meza.
Baker and McKenzie was nominated in different categories for the jurisdictions where it has offices besides Colombia, such as Chile, Argentina, México, Peru, Venezuela, and major cities throughout the US and Canada. Colombian firm Brigard & Urrutia won top honors for its transfer pricing practice.
