Avianca Signs Code-Share Agreement with Singapore Airlines
Colombian airline Avianca and Singapore Airlines, both members of the global Star Alliance, have signed a code-sharing agreement that will apply to flights operated by both carriers to London and Barcelona.
The new agreement, which will go into effect on tickets sold this month and for travel dates beginning in September, will make it easier for travelers on Avianca to reach Singapore and several other Southeast Asian destinations, according to the Bogotá-based airline.
The included Singapore Airlines flights — roundtrip legs between Singapore Changi Airport and London as well as Singapore Changi Airport and Barcelona — will feature an AV code and allow Avianca passengers to earn frequent flier miles through the LifeMiles program. The same applies for Singapore Airlines travelers flying on Avianca trips between Bogotá and London as well as Bogotá and Barcelona.
“The signing of this code-share agreement with Singapore Airlines allows us to expand our route network to offer our customers better connectivity to the world,” said Hernán Rincón, CEO and executive chairman of Avianca.
