EPM Expands Malambo Water Treatment Plant in Atlántico, Establishes Charity With PepsiCo and Postobón

In order to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Malambo, Atlantico on Colombia’s north coast, and promote the development of the municipality, Medellín based utility EPM has opened the El Tesoro water treatment plant. In addition, during the event commemorating the water treatment plant opening, a new charity called the Fund for Life, backed by the EPM, Postobón and Pepsico, which will facilitate access to services for 1,500 families in the area was launched.

The general manager of EPM, Juan Esteban Restrepo Calle indicated that the new plant represented an investment of $5,897,000,000 pesos and emphasized that “the work is an important advance in the goal of expanding the continuity of water service, representing community welfare and development. ”

The operational capacity of the new plant is 270 liters per second (l/s), which combined with the 150 l/s of the existing plant, will allow Malambo to provide the community with an installed capacity of 420 l/s.
