The German Embassy, the Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Cooperation Colombia Foundation, and the Mayor’s Office of Medellín signed a Memorandum of Understanding, strengthening women’s financial and business education, with special attention to Medellín’s rural population.

This agreement, managed through the Medellín Cooperation and Investment Agency (ACI), aims to promote financial education through counseling for women entrepreneurs, microentrepreneurs, or those in vulnerable situations, promoting their access to financial services and strengthening their participation in the city’s productive development. This agreement strengthens the scope of the Decididas project, run by the Secretariat for Women, which will train 2,700 women, supporting them from the completion of high school or in accessing economic opportunities that guarantee their autonomy through employment or entrepreneurship.

This is also the district bank’s commitment to education and financial inclusion. Through this strategy, 10,000 women will be impacted during the four years. Of these, 5,000 will receive training in rights, decision-making, personal finance, and digital skills. The other 5,000 will have access to affirmative action measures to complete their secondary education and job training.

This agreement represents a key step in consolidating Medellín as a city of opportunity for women, ensuring effective tools for their economic independence, and promoting their active participation in the social and productive growth of the region.
