Banco de Bogotá is continuing to send its promotional bus across Colombia in the second half of the year with a stop in the Tomila city of San Antonio in the lead up to the nation’s independence day on July 20.

The vehicle has been traversing Colombia throughout the year with the goal of visiting rural areas to promote financial inclusion, educate potential clients about the company’s services, and bring banking services to people who have never so much as opened a savings account.

Branded as the Route of Financial Inclusion, the bus has already visited the departments of Cauca, Caquetá, and Huila this year. Banco de Bogotá, which has partnered on the initiative with USAID and the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation, says that the effort have so far benefited 1,200 people.

The campaign will remain in San Antonio from July 17 to July 19. The bus will then head to Natagaima, where it will stay from July 24 to 27, and Purificación, from July 31 to August 2.

“Our main purpose is to bring the bank’s entire operation to the country’s rural areas, which still do not enjoy the benefits and opportunities of the financial system,” said Óscar Enrique Guzmán Guzmán, manager of financial inclusion at Banco de Bogotá. “We want to bring our services closer to farmers, coffee growers, micro-entrepreneurs, housewives, and self-employed workers to contribute to the progress of Colombians.”
