Just days after reporting a $287.9 million USD quarterly loss, Spirit Airlines gate and ticketing staff are overwhelmed and unable to deal with the thousands of frustrated passengers, many of whom have been stranded in airports beyond 24 hours.

Avianca indicated that the restrictions were necessitated by “the constant restrictions in different countries in terms of limitation of the entry of tourists, operational reductions, as well as mobility within cities, and the high uncertainty that passengers still have."

The largest cause of the decline was a prolonged strike this fall by more than half of the Colombian pilots working for Avianca.
