The resolution brings an end to the long-running corruption and bribery saga surrounding Corficolombiana and Odebrecht's illicit attempts to gain favor with officials overseeing the Ruta del Sol 2 highway project.

"I am deeply sorry and ask forgiveness from Colombians for this shameful act," said President Santos.

Santos campaign manager Roberto Prieto denied the claims, saying that "never have I even shared a coffee" with the man who allegedly took the bribe.
