Over the last few years, Colombia has recognized that its natural and cultural wealth can be enjoyed by travelers while also being protected and preserved through sustainability guidelines.

Colombia took first place in the Global Big Day birdwatching event organized by Cornell University. Of 1,440 species observed, 600 species were seen in Antioquia, 548 in Valle del Cauca, 532 in Meta, and 505 each in Caldas & Cundinamarca departments.
