Among the nine departments that have the most weight in the export basket of non-mining energy goods in Colombia, one stands out because it had the highest growth in the first half of the year.
This is Huila, which, although it represents 4.9% of that basket, its foreign sales of agricultural, agro-industrial, and industrial products registered a growth of 50% compared to the first half of the previous year.
In the first six months of this year, that region exported $624.2 million USD in non-mining energy goods, compared to $416.2 million USD the previous year.
The product that boosted foreign sales in this department was coffee. Huila exported $589.8 million USD of the grain between January and June and registered a growth of 67.3%, compared to 2024.
The export of fresh tilapia also performed well, $7.3 million, for an increase of 10.8%. And the traditional achiras, which a year ago did not register sales to the world, but in the first six months of this year were exported for a value of $64,525 USD.
The main destinations of Huila goods were: the United States, Canada, Belgium, Germany, and Japan.
