The flight will be operated five times per week by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and depart Bogotá every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

The new initiative will promote responsible tourism in the city and work to ensure local communities are receiving fair value for their work.

The flight will have a stopover in Miami and is set to have its inaugural takeoff in early June.

JetSmart started with domestic routes connecting Medellín, Bogotá, Cartagena, Pereira, Santa Marta, and Cali.

The overall figure also reflects a 70% increase compared to the levels recorded in 2020, highlighint the ongoing recovery since the pandemic.

United has not revealed when the Medellín-to-Houston flight will begin, noting that tickets "will be available later this year."

The Dominican low-cost carrier will ramp up frequencies between Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena to Santo Domingo over the next two months.

"So far in 2024, we have received seven cruise ships with more than 3,000 cruise passengers," said Domingo Chinea of the Regional Port Society of Santa Marta.
