Cartagena is preparing to host one of the most important events in the world in the field of smart cities: Smart City Expo Cartagena 2025, an international fair that from October 29 to 30 will bring together the main players of the public and private sectors, as well as experts and leaders from around the world. To address the challenges and innovative solutions that will define the future of sustainable and technological cities.

Organized by Fira Barcelona and Corferias, hosted by the city of Cartagena de Indias, this event has established itself as the nerve center for the discussion and promotion of smart cities. Smart City Expo Cartagena will have a complete academic agenda, where leading specialists will share their knowledge on digital transformation, sustainability, mobility, urban infrastructure, and citizen participation. In addition, a broad multisectoral commercial exhibition will be developed, with the involvement of a wide variety of innovative institutions and companies, showing the most recent advances in technology and urbanization.

The event is aimed at political leaders and all actors in the public sector, as a meeting point to share experiences, learn, and learn about solutions that they can implement in their respective cities.

During the development of Smart City Expo Cartagena 2025, attendees will be able to explore a variety of key topics that are shaping the future of smart cities. Among the main focuses of the event are:

Among the list of prominent speakers who will participate in this stage, there are key voices from the national and international arena that are leading urban transformation, public innovation, and the construction of more sustainable and inclusive cities. Among them: Alejandro Ambrad, general director of Mentes a la Carta; Paula Andrea Palacio Salazar, director of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley (AMVA); Andrea Piña, executive president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena; Fernando de Pablo Martín, general director of the Digital Office of the Madrid City Council; Pedro González Delgado, director of Foreign Action and Institutional Relations of the Government of Tenerife; Bernardo Baranda Sepúlveda, director for Latin America of the Institute of Transport and Development Policies (ITDP); and Gerardo Neugovsen Plotkin, specialized technical advisor of the National Directorate of Creative Economy of the IDB. These expert voices, among many others, will be part of a high-level agenda designed to draw the roadmap for the present and future smart cities.

The Mayor’s Office of Cartagena de Indias points out that Smart City Expo Cartagena de Indias will generate a positive impact on the local and regional economy, attracting experts, investors, and professionals from the sector, which will contribute to the growth and development of the technology and construction industry in Cartagena and its surroundings. In addition, it will be a platform for economic spillover in the city and an educational and awareness-raising tool for citizens, promoting the adoption of smart and sustainable technologies that improve the quality of life of inhabitants.
