Colombian airline Avianca announced on March 27, the addition of eight new routes that will connect Colombia to major locations worldwide, including one in the United States, two in Brazil, and three in Ecuador.

The airline announced it would connect their customers through Bogotá to four new locations inside Colombia and the Americas: Ipiales, Colombia; Manaus and Belo Horizonte in Brazil, and Boston in the United States starting on March 26 for everything except Boston, which started at March 27.

New routes to and from Medellín were also included, with Avianca opening up routes to Armenia, Colombia, and Guayaquil and Quito in Ecuador starting on April 2, March 28, and March 26, respectively. Cartagena and Guayaquil will also begin enjoying direct connectivity.

The flights in these eight new routes will be flown with A320s that have a passenger capacity of 120 to 130 people, averaging eight flights out per week in these new routes. David Alemán, the Sales Director for Colombia and South America of Avianca, hopes that these new routes will become “strategic” in bringing tourism-related business into the country.

“With the start of these eight new routes, we continue working on our commitment to connect Colombia with markets and strategic destinations for tourism and business such as Brazil, the United States, and Ecuador. Likewise, these routes continue to contribute to the purpose of making tourism an axis of development in Colombia, making it easier for more and more tourists to discover the wealth of our country,” Alemán said.

“We hope to continue working up to now with the authorities so that these routes not only start engines but also be a success in the short, medium, and long term,” Alemán continued.
