Former Conrad Cartagena To Reopen As Hyatt Affiliated Dreams Karibana Cartagena Beach & Golf Resort

Colombia has a very good reputation for both urban business hotels and remote ecotourism enclaves. It has not been known for full-service, large scale luxury resorts of the type found in Caribbean locations like Jamaica, México, or The Dominican Republic. Hyatt-owned Apple Leisure Group (ALG) is seeking to change this by reopening the Karibana Cartagena as an ALG affiliate, the company’s first project in Colombia.
Dreams Karibana Will Be Colombiá’s 1st Large-Scale Luxury All-Inclusive Resort
Finance Colombia reviewed the Karibana Cartagena in its previous iteration as a Conrad property operating under the Hilton umbrella. The hotel closed during the first COVID-19 lockdowns that saw all commercial air traffic in Colombia come to a complete halt. The golf course and country club remained open in a limited service capacity to serve local members, especially of the associated Karibana Cartagena residential development.
The newly rebranded and remodeled Dreams Karibana Cartagena Beach & Golf Resort has 268 rooms, all with either a private terrace, balcony, or swim-out amenities. The property will have five bars and lounges, three à la carte restaurants, pool and beach service, unlimited international and domestic spirits, 24-hour room and concierge services, daily activities and entertainment, nightly events.
The Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf course remains, along with the private beach club, and almost 25,000 square feet of meeting and convention space suitable for events from weddings to business gatherings.
