David Agency, BBDO Sancho, Coca-Cola Win Top Latin American Effie Awards at +Cartagena Marketing Conference

David ad agency was the winner of this year’s most prestigious Latin American Effie Award, the regional edition of the honors handed out annually to the best marketing and ad campaigns of the year.

Awarded during the first edition of the +Cartagena marketing conference on the Colombian coast, the Buenos Aires office of the David agency won the Gran Effie for its “Super Promo Noblex” campaign for Argentina-based company Newsan.

Other winners of the top Effie Awards included Bogotá-based Sancho BBDO for the Agency of the Year, global agency BBDO for Network of the Year, and beverage giant Coca-Cola for the Marketer of the Year.

The +Cartagena marketing conference took place across three days last week in the Caribbean city, where some 1,300 attendees gathered to discuss advertising, sponsorships, and other business models within the creative “orange economy.”

The event, referred to fully as the Latin American Summit of Communication, Creativity, Innovation and Marketing, featured 27 international ad buyers and 50 Colombian firms. The dedicated business forum facilitated the direct closing of some $150,000 USD in business deals and expectations of some $4.6 million USD in further business being created, according to the Colombian Union of Advertising Companies (UCEP), the organizer of +Cartagena.

The academic program and presentations by relevant experts ran throughout the event, including more more than 80 speakers from countries all across the world.

“The experience of +Cartagena tells us that we are on the right track,” said Ximena Tapias, president of UCEP and head +Cartagena. “This first edition exceeded expectations and the participation of all of us who make up this ecosystem allows us to see that the creative industry is the future of the Latin American economy.”

+Cartagena was supported by the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MinTIC), the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, and national business promotion agency ProColombia,
