In a coordinated operation between the Medellín Mayor’s Office, the National Police, and the Attorney General’s Office, 17 members of the “Los Peludos” (The Furries) Common Organized Criminal Group (COCG) were arrested. The arrests, carried out in Medellín and the northern suburb of Bello, were the result of 19 raids.

This criminal group operated under the control of the “Chatas” Organized Criminal Group (COCG), engaging in illicit activities such as monopolizing food products and propane gas. In addition, they extorted merchants, farmers, and informal vendors, demanding monthly payments ranging from $100,000 USD to $20 million USD, severely impacting the local economy.

The main leader of this criminal organization is known as “Ears” (Orejas), who has a criminal record and is currently under electronic surveillance for illicit activities related to the monopoly. It is estimated that the criminal revenues generated by “Los Peludos” reached $1.8 billion USD per month, highlighting the significant economic impact of this organization.
