The Atlanta talent and consulting firm has opened a Bogotá BPO center as a hub for its Latin American operations....

Atlanta-based talent firm makes Bogotá its Latin American hub

Insight Global, the Atlanta-based talent and consulting company, has opened a capability center in Bogotá, Colombia. It has now established the city as the base for its Latin American operations as demand for nearshore services continues to grow.

The center officially launched on June 1 and will support corporate, client, and consultant delivery functions across Insight Global’s operations. The company said the facility is part of its broader international expansion strategy to better serve clients and consultants across multiple markets.

Insight Global currently has more than 1,500 active workers supporting projects throughout Latin America, according to the company.

“It will serve as an extension of our middle and back-office functions as well as being our hub for Latin American Operations.” – Chris Abbeduto, Vice President of Global Operations, Insight Global

Chris Abbeduto, Insight Global’s vice president of global operations, described the Bogotá facility as a strategic investment in the company’s regional growth.

The company said the Bogotá initiative was more than a year in development. The center’s workforce consists of fully bilingual employees fluent in Spanish and English, who were integrated into Insight Global’s culture, systems, and training programs from the beginning.

Insight Global selected Bogotá partly because of its established talent market and its ability to support collaboration with US-based teams during overlapping business hours. The company said this alignment enables same-day communication between teams in North America and Latin America, a key factor for nearshore delivery models.

The opening shows growth in Colombia’s business services sector, where companies have increasingly established regional centers focused on technology, customer support, operations, and specialized services. Bogotá’s combination of skilled talent, language capabilities, and geographic proximity to North American markets has contributed to its position as a major nearshore destination.

Founded in Atlanta, Insight Global provides staffing, consulting, and AI services through nearly 40,000 employees supporting more than 3,200 companies across over 40 countries. The company works across areas that include cloud, artificial intelligence, data, enterprise operations, and applied engineering.

Lisa Walden discusses human-centered leadership, generational differences, and how organizations can build better workplaces for the future....

Colombia has a thriving, growing BPO industry, as evidenced by the success of the CX Summit 2026, organized by the industry association, Bpro. While the sector is known to have some very innovative employers, Lisa Walden, co-founder of Good Company Consulting and co-author of The Future of Work Is Human was a keynote speaker at this year’s event where she spoke about how organizations can build more human-centered workplaces by moving beyond traditional leadership approaches and understanding employees as individuals.

Her presentation explored the “platinum rule” of leadership, which is treating people the way they want to be treated, as well as the changing expectations of different generations entering the workforce.

With Colombia’s BPO industry employing a large and increasingly younger workforce, Walden, A Colombian with roots in Santander, discussed how leaders can better engage Gen Z employees, build psychological safety, improve communication, and adapt to a rapidly changing global workplace shaped by technology, globalization, and shared experiences such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finance Colombia’s Executive Editor Loren Moss was able to speak with Walden about her concepts and guidance for innovative employers in any industry sector.

Finance Colombia: We’re here at the CX Summit 2026. I’m with Lisa Walden. You’re quite the superstar. There’s been such a line of people looking at your book, The Future of Work is Human. You gave a great talk, and it’s exciting to have you here. At the end, there was a big surprise for me. I heard you speaking pretty good Spanglish, and then I learned you’re Colombian.

Lisa Walden: Yes, I am.

Finance Colombia: Wow, that’s so cool.

Lisa Walden: Yeah, I think so too. I very much represent Colombian pride as much as I can. This necklace is actually from Colombia, so I wanted to be wearing it on stage with me.

Finance Colombia: Great. And we could talk for an hour about that, but I think we want to talk about your presentation today. You gave an interesting talk, and you also have a book about this: how to relate to people differently in the workplace. You talked about the Golden Rule, which is to treat people the way you would want to be treated, but then—

Lisa Walden: The Platinum Rule.

Finance Colombia: Yes, exactly. The Platinum Rule: treat people the way they would want to be treated.

Lisa Walden: Yes, exactly.

Finance Colombia: Which is all the difference in the world, isn’t it?

Lisa Walden: Yeah. We don’t live in a one-size-fits-all world. Being able to know how to customize your leadership approach for the people you’re leading is the way to do it better: to lead in a more human-specific, nuanced way.

I know that’s hard. It’s not easy to do that if you have a team of 20. But that’s why I always say micro moves are your best friends. Think about what micro adjustments you can make that will help you connect and lead more effectively.

Finance Colombia: Something else that you touched on was interesting: how leaders in businesses — and that doesn’t just mean managers and directors, but leaders of all types, no matter their title — interact with people from different generations.

In a way, this can become a stereotype when people talk about Baby Boomers, Gen X, and other generations. But I think the message is to understand the people on your team and relate to them in a way that makes sense and is productive for both the organization and the individual. Is that the gist of it?

Lisa Walden: Oh yeah, 100%. As you said, sometimes people use these generational names as stereotypes, and I really caution against that.

It’s more a lens that you see other people through. It’s one piece of information, one additional bit of texture and nuance to how you lead, but you have to do the work yourself as well.

You have to find out, as individuals, what their preferences are, how they like to receive feedback, how they like to be appreciated, and what their style of work is. When you gain all that information, that’s what really helps you be a better leader.

Finance Colombia: Now, your consultancy has a business partner, and you both do consulting aside from having written a book together.

Lisa Walden: We have it here!

Finance Colombia: The Future of Work is Human. We’ll link to it, of course. Beautiful cover, by the way.

Lisa Walden: Thank you. We worked really hard on that. The first few we received were a no, but we landed on something good.

Finance Colombia: Great. My question is: what do you do as partners in your consultancy? What’s the purpose of the business, and what type of clients do you serve?

Lisa Walden: Our very tongue-in-cheek mission is to help people create workplaces that don’t suck.

We used to work together at an organization as generational consultants, and everyone would say, “Oh, we love your job. It’s so awesome. How do we work for you?”

We identified the gaps where people could focus more on the humans in the workplace and decided to make it our mission to help people create workplaces that don’t suck — but even better, make awesome workplaces.

The work that we do is focused on that people-first lens. We look at generations at work: Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z. We look at building psychological safety and trust, communication, and compassionate leadership.

Mostly, we deliver this content at meetings, associations, and events. But we also go into organizations. We do team building, workshops, and consulting engagements when a client comes to us with a very specific ask.

Our mission is simple: helping people create workplaces that don’t suck. The way we disseminate that information and pursue that mission is pretty varied.

Finance Colombia: That’s fascinating. Is there a website or a way people who might need that service can get in touch with you?

Lisa Walden: Absolutely. You can find me on LinkedIn. My name is Lisa X Walden, and you can find me easily with the X Walden. The X is for my middle name, Ximena, which is very common here in Colombia.

You can find us on Instagram at @goodcompanyconsulting, and you can also find our website at www.goodcompanyconsulting.com.

Finance Colombia: Lastly – and you’ve been very generous with your time – I love seeing the interest. We’ve been standing here and people keep coming up to you, which is amazing.

Lisa Walden: It’s cool.

Finance Colombia: I’ve been coming to this event for about 15 years, and I’ve never seen that kind of response. I’ve seen other popular people, but not like that. That’s really impressive for the keynotes.

Lisa Walden: Wow. Thank you for saying that.

Finance Colombia: What are the takeaways that people in the BPO industry specifically can use and apply?

Also, you talked about life-defining events and the things we remember — whether it’s 9/11 or other major events. It’s fascinating because you look at the parallels and differences between Colombia and other generations.

I think about the older generation when they think about the Bogotazo, when the presidential candidate was killed and everything that happened afterward. Were there differences that you found, or any surprises as you prepared for this and unpacked that?

Lisa Walden: I focused mostly on Gen Z because that was my ask. It sounds like for many BPOs, a vast majority of their employees are within that generational age range.

Gen Z right now is between 16 and 30, so I really focused on them in my interviews and research for this event.

I’ll also say that when we look at generations, the way we talk about them is through events and conditions during formative years — roughly your teenage years. Of course, a different country is going to have different formative events for different generations.

For Gen Z, there is so much that’s similar because of globalization, the internet, COVID, and technology. We have access to the same types of things, so they are showing up much more similarly across the board than older generations.

Of course, there are some uniting events. For example, I asked the room, “What is an event or condition you remember from your formative years?” I want to say there was a Millennial in the room who said 9/11, and a Colombian Millennial who said a Colombian event.

There are shared events and conditions globally, but for Gen Z, there are so many of them. I went in knowing that, but I was surprised to find the level of similarity between how that is shaping them at work.

Things like really prioritizing mental health, prioritizing their own wellness, and pushing for work-life harmony — that’s what we call it. It’s not balance, but it’s about getting resources from work that make them better people outside of work and then being able to unplug after work so they can be better at their work when they come back.

They also have a different association with people in positions of authority and a different kind of work ethic, I would say. It can push some people because it’s different from what they’ve seen in the past.

We see that cyclical conversation: “Oh, this generation doesn’t want to work anymore.”

What really surprised me was the similarities and how many there were. It was truly shocking, even as a generational researcher, to say: “Wow, the similarities across these countries are pretty staggering.”

Finance Colombia: Absolutely. We’re all on the same internet and connected.

For the first time, Colombia has finished first globally in the annual Offshore BPO Confidence Index, put out each year by BPO Consulting Firm Ryan Strategic Advisory, this year done in conjunction with editorial firm Cognitive Copy.

The report assesses the extent to which outsourcing operators in 12 offshore and nearshore locations view the national operating environment from which they deliver services to end-users in key sourcing markets. The countries studied in this report include Bulgaria, Colombia, Egypt, El Salvador, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland and South Africa.

The report is available free of charge by clicking here.

Outsourcing expert and Ryan Strategic Advisory principal Peter Ryan told Finance Colombia: “Colombia managed to score the top spot in the 2021 BPO Offshore Confidence Index, a position that was well-earned. Over the past two decades, cohesive efforts between the government and industry have led to one of the most stable operating environments anywhere in the world for CX. The results validate Colombia’s strong standing as an outsourcing delivery point and justify the ongoing investment from providers near and afar into this South American nearshore powerhouse.”

Each location was assessed by across 11 different aspects that impact the delivery of third-party services, including political stability, economic stability, human resource availability, government support for the BPO sector, infrastructure quality, commercial real estate, public safety, public sector transparency, BPO sector cohesiveness, language / education quality and scalability.

Colombia obtained a rating of 90.9%, gaining first place in the index, followed by India, Bulgaria, South Africa, and El Salvador. The country’s highest-rated categories are government support and BPO industry cohesion. Additionally, aspects such as the country’s telecommunications infrastructure, talent availability, and economic stability received outstanding ratings.

The report specifically highlighted the confidence industry executives have in their trade association, bPro, run by industry advocate Ana Karina Quessep. Outsourcing in Colombia generates revenues of 1.7 billion Colombian pesos, or over $400 million USD.

"The ITU, the International Communications Union, considers CINTEL, and Andicom, one of the best ICT academic business spaces of the world"...

Next week, Andicom returns to in-person mode after going virtual the previous year due to COVID. Andicom, organized by CINTEL, Colombia’s “Center for Investigation & Development in Information & Communications Technologies,” is the Andes region’s largest and most important event spanning the IT, telecom, software, & consulting sectors.

Before the event, Finance Colombia’s executive editor Loren Moss was able to speak briefly with CINTEL’s executive director, Manuel Martinez Niño regarding the decision to return to a face-to-face format, and what we can expect this year.

Finance Colombia: I am here with Manuel Martinez Niño, the Executive Director of Cintel. Cintel is the organizer of Andicom. I’d like to ask now that we’re here at the event launch of Andicom 2021: last year, Andicom 2020 was done in a virtual way, but we’re just back to face to face mode in Cartagena. Tell me about your experience during the last year and since this is one of the first big events that are happening face to face here in Colombia, was it a hard decision to go and do this, to decide to go and take the opportunity to make the event face to face event?

Manuel Martinez Niño: Yes, effectively the challenge was we did last year’s event, 2020, we did our event in a virtual way. It was a huge challenge and very complex after more than 30 face-to-face editions, and then jumping to this virtual way, which implied knowing the solutions, the infrastructure, the platforms that exist for this, the advantages and disadvantages of one compared to another, but even more complex was the reception of the attendees that usually attend the event. Despite that, we decided that Andicom has to always be presential. This year we have reached the 36th Edition, 36 years helping the economic development of the country through the ICT sector. We took a decision to do it [virtually], it went well, we had attendance of approximately 1500 people, which was good for the time, so virtuality works but it never replaces the face-to-face mode.

And it generated a challenge that we see today. When we say let’s do the 2021 face to face, there was joy in getting rid of this virtuality where, yes, it was good, but I don’t like to speak to a machine. The machine doesn’t feel, doesn’t gesture, doesn’t have an opinion, doesn’t empathize, the message was good or bad, so returning to face-to-face events, return to networking, with all the crew of the ICT industry, is really good, and in fact, the great reception we have had from the corporations with national and international organizations, the government, authorities, and others, it has generated a lot of pride for us, and also a lot of responsibility, because we have to have a space of the level we have always had, or a better one, which we have always had, and it’s a high level quality. The ITU, the International Communications Union, considers CINTEL, and Andicom, one of the best ICT academic business spaces of the world, as the UN organization also states, so we have that big challenge and to maintain the quality, we have to work together so through the ICTs the engine really generates more benefits, effectiveness and life quality for the society.

Finance Colombia: How has the reception of the big corporations and sponsors been that are here attending Andicom?

Manuel Martinez Niño: Really good, really good. They’re also exhausted of the virtuality. Despite that it has worked, and it has demonstrated that through the year and a half that we have been in the middle of this pandemic, When we announced that this year Andicom would be face to face, everyone was glad, because everyone wants to meet and greet their clients, in a face-to-face mode.

They have virtual meetings, but it’s not the same, we’re human beings and we’re used to talk between us, not through a machine, so the reception was really good and we’re very optimistic and also with a very high sense of responsibility that our space, as one of the biggest congresses in Colombia returning to face-to-face meetings.

Finance Colombia: The event always happens in Cartagena, which is the city that depends on international and business tourism, but Cartagena has also suffered a lot because of the closures of recreation and tourism. So what contribution does Andicom make to the economy of Colombia, specifically talking about Cartagena?

Manuel Martinez Niño: The coverage that we’re giving to the city of Cartagena in our space is huge. We affect approximately around 5.000 people between direct and indirect employment: call it hotels, call it restaurants, call it transportation, and other spaces that live from tourism and that by returning again to the city, they are refreshed, and we give dynamism to that social and economic development that Cartagena has, whose largest income comes from tourism. We’re in fact talking with the authorities of Cartagena, so we can do this together, do it well, especially having in mind the environment and current problem of the pandemic and be responsible, but also be conscious that the world continues and it’s continuing to move on, we have to move on.

Finance Colombia: Thank you so much Manuel, see you in Cartagena

Manuel Martinez Niño: Thanks to you. Very kind.

Finance Colombia’s Executive Editor Loren Moss was fortunate enough to sit down with Kevin Roberts when he was in Colombia for the WOBI World Leadership Forum last month. Kevin is the former chairman of global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi where he invented the Lovemarks marketing concept, intended to evolve beyond the traditional concept of branding. Kevin now runs Red Rose Consulting where he offers counsel and coaching on leadership, marketing & creative thinking.

Roberts shares some provocative thoughts on the death of traditional media and the rise of new media; and how that goes hand-in-hand with the death of traditional advertising agencies and the rise of the new creative.

Finance Colombia: Welcome to Colombia, welcome to Medellin. Is this your first time here?

Kevin Roberts: It’s my second time in Colombia, first time here (in Medellín).

Finance Colombia: Great, tell me about your first time, where did you go?

Kevin Roberts: Bogota

I want to spend more time here because I think this city, Medellin seems on the move.

Finance Colombia: It’s like a whole different country, from one city to another isn’t it? You were in Cartagena yesterday, right?

Kevin Roberts: Cartagena, of course. I never left the whole town for 4 days, I stayed, I drank in every sight and sound, I ate everything, and saw some great places, met some great people, I found this great little place called the Casa San Agustin, (see map below) terrific. I would bike out every day. And I liked it. Bogota, when I went there, a few years ago, it was very different, I think, I’m coming back in January, but I want to spend more time here because I think this city, Medellin seems on the move.

Finance Colombia: It is, it’s like the Silicon Valley of South America. One of the things that fascinates me in Colombia is that every city is like a different country. It is like the difference between New York and Los Angeles.

Kevin Roberts: Where are you from?

Finance Colombia: I’m from Columbus Ohio, in The States. I’ve been here for 6 years, but still, every day I learn something. So, we are publishers. I publish three different publications, only one is focused on Colombia, the other ones focus on financial back office processing (FinanceAmericas) and there’s one that’s one about technology (Cognitive Business News), but I publish Finance Colombia, which is the only English language publication focused on Colombia’s financial sector.

Kevin Roberts: And on what media? Online or physical?

“I think the world of agencies, the way agencies function would disappear” – Kevin Roberts

Finance Colombia: It’s all digital because if I mail a printed magazine to London, it’s no longer news when it arrives, it’s history. It’s interesting because it seems like people that are older than me still take print publications, but people that are 20 or 30 or 40 years old, they consume media digitally.

Kevin Roberts: I take all my newspapers online, right? So I take the New York Times, The Times, the Daily Mail, The New Zealand Herald, but I take my magazines physically, because I’m not interested in the news, it’s not news then, I’m still interested in editorial content and I’m still interested in quality reporting so for instance, and I like the touch of the paper, I like the photography, so I’d still get Condé Nast Traveller,
