The Amgen Foundation scholarships will allow Colombian science and engineering students to research at the University of Kyoto and the University of Tokyo....

The Amgen Foundation has opened a call for science and engineering students from all universities in Colombia to apply for research scholarships to study at Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo in Japan.

To be eligible for the up-to-10-week program, students must be undergraduates who have completed at least two semesters in their current program with interest in pursuing a Ph.D. and excellent academic standing. They must have also earned a score of at least 72 on their English-language TOEFL exam and a 5.5 on their IELTS exam.

Research areas offered by the Japanese universities under the scholarship include biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, chemistry, immunology, pharmacology, microbiology, molecular genetics, neuroscience, pathology, psychology, statistics, and toxicology.

Those selected for the scholarship will also have the opportunity to participate in the symposium in Japan led by scientists working in related areas in industry or academia.

Students can apply at the foundation’s website through February 1. Though the program schedules are not yet final, the expected dates will be from June 12 to August 6 at Kyoto University and June 11 to August 6 at the University of Tokyo.
