Avianca Will Begin Flying Direct from Bogotá to Boston in June
Beginning on June 2, Avianca will begin flying a new route from Bogotá to Boston, making this the only direct flight connecting the Colombian capital with what the nation’s largest airline called “one of the oldest cities in the United States, an epicenter of prestigious universities of great cultural and artistic significance.”
The flight will depart at 2:40 pm from the capital’s El Dorado International Airport four times per week — each Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday — and is estimated to arrive at 9:57 pm in Logan International Airport’s Terminal E.
The redeye return leg from Boston to Bogotá will run every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, taking off at 12:27 am with a scheduled landing at 5:57 am local time.
The flight will be operated by an Airbus A319 aircraft, which will have a capacity of 120 passengers, including 12 “executive class” seats. Included in the fare, passengers will be allowed to carry two suitcases of up to 23 kilograms each (roughly 50 pounds each).
“With the launch of this new route, Avianca becomes the first and only airline to directly link Bogotá with Boston and vice versa, more efficiently connecting travelers from the state of Massachusetts with the main capitals of Latin America,” said Hernán Rincón, president of Avianca.
