Oil and gas production company Amerisur Resources PLC revealed this week that it has completed the drilling of its Platanillo 24 well in Colombia. The Wales-headquartered company says it spent around $2 million USD to drill this infill well to a total depth of nearly 8,500 feet in a little more than two weeks.
This makes the latest addition to Amerisur’s Platanillo block holdings, which it operates with a 100% working interest in the department of Putumayo. The company, which has an office in Bogotá, is currently still working to complete the well for commercial production.
“Platanillo 24 is a good result, the second of our planned infill wells,” said John Wardle, chief executive officer of Amerisur. “The well was drilled to total depth in just over 15 days at a cost of under $2 million USD. I look forward to successfully initiating production.”
In addition to the Platanillo block, Amerisur has other holdings in Colombia known as Put-8, Put-9, Put-12, and Coati, as well as other longer-term exploration assets. It also owns the OBA oil transfer line into Ecuador and assets in Paraguay.
